So I have been practicing for my West Coast Bass debut all week. I have been out there in the cold and in the wind and rain making sure that I was ready for my debut performance. My tackle was packed, my poles were lined (all by Duane of course - I have no idea how to do that stuff) and so off the partner pairings I went. When I got there I checked in, paid my entry fee and picked up my goodies. Well as the clock neared 7pm the officials kept saying they were short boaters (I am a non-boater). I looked around the room and there were people there that really wanted to fish this, I mean REALLY wanted to fish this and they might not get a chance too. I walked up to the front and volunteered to give my spot up. Heck - it's cold and rainy! They said thank you so much!! They were so happy they gave me my money back and said they would pay my entry at the next tournament. So, I went to fish a tournament and all I got was this lousy t-shirt, BUT I get to sleep in, walk the dog, eat, stay warm, study, play on the computer....I guess I'll catch the big fish next time! (On a side note, stupid Dupree had to work tonight so I became his proxy, with being his proxy I negotiated a 10% of his winnings deal, that was until I saw both his partners only had a few teeth, then it went up to 20%! I made out like a bandit on this one!)
So today I set out to catch big fish...that didn't happen so instead I finished my book, started another one, ate my chicken and swiss sandwich, ate some celery and red bell peppers and then documented the 2 faces of Clear Lake. Really nice and really bad.....Guess what side we park the motor home on?
So today was the first day of pre-fishing at Clear Lake. Our tournament is this Saturday and Sunday and it has been and is supposed to be rainy all tournament long. We got lucky and it only rained this morning, but it was cold! So today I caught a fish, read 254 pages in my book and made dinner. All Duane had to do was the dishes....this is not what I consider washing the dishes.
Your sister is supposed to be one of your best friends, well at least someone you can trust. We used to be so close when we where younger. But today she decided that it was perfectly okay to lie to my face, go against her word and try to screw me out of my job. Good thing I didn't mail her birthday present yet...Happy $50 Forever 21 gift card to me!
****Notice in the photo Catherine's M.O. - always trying to be higher than me on the ladder.
I usually post a real photo with my blogs, but unfortunately I don't have one at this time, I will probably be able to post one at the end of March... I was on Facebook today and I was looking at the City of Reno page and there was a post that caught my attention. There is an only plus size club coming to Reno. Can you believe that??? If I opened a skinny people only club I would be sued for discrimination, how is this possible? People always tell me that I can't be mean or not like people because they are obese, but it seems as if these "plus sized" people are doing the exact same thing only in reverse. Isn't that reverse desrimination? Just beacuse I choose to eat healthy and and walk through the grocery store instead of using one of those motorized scooters it doesn't make me a bad person. Just because I don't want someone lopping over into my seat on an airplane doesn't mean I'm selfish, I just like my space. We live in a society where being over weight is acceptable, why? It's unhealthy, expensive and gross to look at. I need to rethink my idea about opening a gym for in shape, skinny, attractive people only! Hey I don't want to look at all that flab jiggling while I'm trying to work out!
So we flew over to Half Moon Bay on Monday, just a day or so after the Mavericks Surf Competition. At the competition the waves were HUGE. They were so big that people, tents, stands, camera people...were swept out to sea. I guess they should have paid more attention because I saw this sign loud and clear!
YEA!!!!! Today my partner was Trent, he is a very experienced fisherman, but this was his first time at the Delta. We had a fun day laughing and fishing. We caught 1 fish, I caught it and it was 3.33 pounds! I was so excited. Hopefully this is the start to a great season for me!
My partner today Was Guyle, he was a nice local guy. He was on the same water as Duane, unfortunately we came in with 9 pounds less than Duane did. I didn't catch any fish today but....Guyle ran out of hooks so we had to go to the store. While he was in the store I was able to witness this, it's a little hard to tell from the photo so I'll explain it. These two guys lost their trailor, it fell off their truck so they waded in to their necks fully clothed in sweatshirts and jeans to pull it out. I felt sorry for them but because I didn't catch a fish this was all I had to blog about!
The weather really needs to take a turn for the better. We have been staying in trailer parks at the last few tournaments so we can have power. (I don't really understand why but it has something to do with the heater draining the generator?) The last on was really nice, I could have permanently moved in! This one left a little to be desired.
I am fishing this year. Only the WON Bass tournaments, but that's at least 6 tournaments. The first tournament is at the CA Delta. It's February and freezing and no one has caught more than 2 fish during their pre-fish (practice). Looks like this is going to be fun. My first day of pre-fish was spent fully covered, I even wore my robber mask all day, and organizing my tackle box. I had 1 bite all day...it looks like its going to be a long tournament.
